GB565-396 is for shear testing aluminum rods and rivets, per ASTM B565.There are a number of strength requirements for the fixture set by ASTM. Including use of hardened steel with a hardness greater than 52 HRC. To ensure a proper shear, the radius of the shearing edges must be less than 0.0005 in. (0.013mm). ASTM also requires that fitted machined bolts are to be used to hold the components of the gripping device together. Finally, the clevises and tongue must fit properly.
